Korean First Presbyterean Church

Modern Pyramids, Inc. designed the electrical distribution system to accomodate a rapidly growing and expanding religious congregation off U.S. Highway 29 in Gwinett County, GA. The Korean First Presbyterean Church project involved approximately 35,000 sq. ft of new construction.

The two-story sanctuary contained a huge nave which was overseen with peripheral balcony seating.  The choir loft and baptismal fountain were key focal areas. Church activities were substantially enhanced with the creation of new offices for the pastor and administors. the floor plan provided for multiple additional rooms for classrooms, conferencing, as well as kitchenette for church activities. The HVAC system was designed with twelve roof-top units (RTU) which provided heating and cooling capacity of approximately 120 tons. MPI designed an electrical distribution system to power the RTU's, air handling units (AHU), heat pumps, and exhaust fans.

Modern Pyramids provided the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering design for renovations at  Memorial Church of God in Christ on the southwestern side of Atlanta, GA. The basement area was partitioned to create spaces to conduct church activities. The design of the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system provided for the sizing of the supply and return duct work, condensors, air handling units, exhaust fans, etc. The plumbing portion of the project included new male and female lavatories for the basement. Plumbing fixtures which were suitable for accomodations for handicapped individuals were provided.

The design of the electrical system for Korean First Presbyterean Church  included analysis for a customized lighting system. The enormous ceiling height presented  challenges. The electrical room supported lighting dimmer panels. The sound system required an isolated grounding system to prevent transients and electrical interference and noises. The audio-visual system included a suspended video projector and screen.

Other portions of the lighting system included track, stage, and emergency lighting. Modern Pyramids also designed fire alarm details for the fire alarm contractor. The design complied to standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). A zoned fire alarm system had interconnections to the sprinkler system. The specified fire alarm devices included pull stations, smoke detectors, audible and visual strobes for alarm indication. Another critical safety issue involved MPI conferring with a grounding specialist to plan for potential lightning strokes.

Memorial Church of God in Christ (COGIC)

MPI  provided the design for additions to the existing electrical system to support the renovated arch-itecture and mechanical building systems.

A new electrical panel was provided for the renovated spaces. Fire alarm details and emergency lighting were provided.  A customized solution was designed for the power and lighting details for the sanctuary, renovated spaces, and HVAC equipment.
